Terms of use
Last updated: 30 October 2026
These terms apply when you use The Phosphor. By using the site you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
Who runs the site
The Phosphor is run by Jarlarex, an individual based in Ireland. Contact: brandonsniffer@gmail.com. Reading the site is free and you don’t need an account.
Using the site
You’re welcome to read, share and link to anything here. Please don’t:
- use the site for anything unlawful
- try to break it, overload it or get into parts of it you weren’t meant to reach
- copy articles in bulk or republish them as your own
Copyright
Unless it says otherwise, the articles on this site belong to Jarlarex. You can quote a short passage with credit and a link back. For anything more than that, ask first. Your rights under the fair dealing provisions of the Copyright and Related Rights Act 2000 aren’t affected.
Official game and console images belong to their owners and are used to illustrate news and commentary. Images are credited on the image credits page, and anything else stays under its own licence.
If you think something here infringes your rights, see the contact page. I’ll look at it promptly and take it down if I should.
Trade marks and independence
Game, company and product names belong to their owners and are used here to identify what’s being written about. The Phosphor isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.
The content
News moves quickly. I try to get things right and I give sources, but articles reflect what was known when they were written, and they include my opinions. Corrections are made where needed, as explained on the how I work page.
Nothing here is financial, legal or professional advice. If an article mentions a company’s results, that isn’t a recommendation to buy or sell anything. Prices and availability can change, so check with the retailer before you buy.
The site won’t always be available, and I may change or remove content or close it at any time.
Links and unofficial software
Links to other sites are there for your information. I don’t control those sites and I’m not responsible for them.
I may write about fan projects and unofficial software as news. That isn’t a recommendation to use them, and I don’t link to them or explain how to get them. You’re responsible for making sure anything you do with your games or devices follows the law and the terms you agreed to.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability where the law doesn’t allow it, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, liability for fraud, and your statutory rights as a consumer.
Otherwise, because the site is provided free of charge, I’m not liable, as far as the law allows, for loss that wasn’t a reasonably foreseeable result of me breaking these terms, or for loss caused by relying on an article, by the site being unavailable, or by a site I’ve linked to.
Your rights as a consumer
Nothing in these terms affects your rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2022 or the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in. If any part of these terms turns out not to be enforceable, the rest still applies.
Law and courts
These terms are governed by Irish law, and the Irish courts have jurisdiction. If you’re a consumer living elsewhere in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of your own country and you can also bring a claim in the courts where you live.
If you have a problem, please email me first. Most things can be sorted out that way.
Changes
I may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and the version in place when you use the site is the one that applies.
